Working as part of the central Produce Technical Services Team and reporting to the Site Manager you will;
• Develop & Maintain systems, policies and procedures to ensure product quality, safety and legality to high standards; liaising with all relevant departments / key stakeholders with respect to quality and food safety
• Liaise with NPD department with respect to NPD / EPD, product launches and all relevant site stakeholders to ensure smooth launch
• Ensure the continual updating of the Quality manual in line with the BRC and own-internal standards, relevant scheme standards and legal requirements
• Lead the HACCP Team in order to produce a valid HACCP plan capable of producing a safe product
• Manage the site customer complaint process
• Manage the onsite internal audit schedule
• Provide absentee cover for other Technical management as appropriate
• Act as primary contact between the Site Manager and accreditation bodies to ensure full compliance.

Our client is the trade association for the agricultural plant breeding industry in the UK. Their major role is as the industry’s royalty collection agency. They licence and collect royalties on certified seed produced and sold by seed merchants and also collect farm-saved seed payments on farmers’ use of farm-saved seed via processors and also direct from farmers. They now have a vacancy in their royalty collection team for someone to help predominantly with the farm-saved seed collection for combinable crops and potatoes.
To investigate and resolve discrepancies in farmers’ declarations of farm saved seed use for combinable crops and potatoes, contacting farmers, identifying and recording the findings and taking appropriate remedial action.
To work with the Collections and Communications Administrator to verify farmers’ declarations of farm saved seed and provide farmer telephone support.
To audit farm saved seed declarations for potato varieties where breeders’ terms and conditions of sale allow and carry out special audits including on farm, and risk-based audits of old, expired and misdeclared varieties. To take any remedial action required.
To analyse internal collections data and use this alongside external data sources, intelligence and agricultural knowledge to identify areas of possible non-compliance in farm saved seed declaration and payment, then working as part of the team, to devise and implement targeted enforcement activities.
To report to the seed certification authorities as appropriate, any instances of illegal trading and/or noncompliance in seed regulations and follow up. To liaise with breeders to recover royalty from instances of illegally traded seed or from grain sown as seed. To advise farmers of the legal position in relation to the use of farm saved seed.
To assist with the combinable crops and potato farm saved seed collections. This includes dealing with phone calls from farmers, taking telephone declarations, opening post, inputting nil declarations to the database and following up queries on declaration forms.
To assist the Field Officers and/or undertake audits of PRS licensees & licensed farm-saved seed processors. To identify, record and share information obtained at external audits and follow up as required.
To keep apprised of current and future legislation relating to farmers’ use of seed and to develop overall understanding of the seeds industry and current farming practice in the UK.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication ability especially on the telephone; able to communicate and build rapport with farmers and others in the agricultural industry
