Marie Stopes International operates through a network of channels (Clinics, Social Franchise, Marie Stopes community based Ladies and Outreach). This network is complemented by our Social Marketing operation which provides and supplies medical abortion and emergency contraception and other contraceptive and Sexual Reproductive Health products both within and outside our channels.
Marie Stopes International (MSI) is one of the 20 largest charities in the UK providing family planning & safe abortion services across the globe. MSI operates as a social enterprise, and reveneues are divided almost equally between donor funds and revenue from clients that receive our services.
MSI Group Finance is based in MSI's London Support Office (the Head Office), based in Conway Street, central London. The Group Finance team comprises:
The Group Reporting team
The Donor Finance team
The Global Support Office finance team including Shared Services
Financial Planning & Analysis
The Group Reporting team consolidate global financial information and prepare the core group financial reports: the group management accounts, group statutory accounts and annual audit, global balance sheet. In additional, the group team is responsible for grant financial accounting and revenue recognition.
The role is part of the wider Global Accounting Team with specific management responsibility for the Group Reporting team, including:
Managing Group month-end including relevant management reports
Preparing Group Statutory Accounts (and managing the group statutory audit)
Managing and monitoring the group balance sheet
Managing global grant income recognition, grant financial accounting and pre-financing reporting
To succeed in this role, you must have:
Skills and Experience:
Financial & management reporting experience (essential)
Experience of preparing accounts under UK accounting standards and the Charities SORP (essential)
Experienced in multi currency reporting and accounting (essential)
Finance systems experience, preferably including SUNsystems, InforQ&A and InforBI (desirable)
Experience of group reporting in an international donor funded organisation (desirable)
Experience of working in-country for a large, international NGO (desirable)
Experience in managing staff (desirable)
Qualifications and Training:
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, other relevant qualification) (essential)
Pro-Choice on abortion
High level of numeracy
Attention to detail
Proactive at solving problems
Good communicator with colleagues with a finance and non-finance background; and with non-native English speakers
Good at prioritising to meet deadlines

Salary: £46k - £53k depending on experience
