One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operative. This is a temporary contract for 5 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance. Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary The successful post holder will provide Horticultural/Grounds Maintenance within the borough, providing horticultural excellence and contributing to Regional and National In Bloom campaigns where applicable. Duties and Responsibilities Contribute to the performance of the team; ensuring the maintainance of a high standard of service and supporting the Streetscene Team Leader and Streetscene Operations Manager in making sure the Grounds Maintenance Team offers a customer focused service to help achieve continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery. Act as an ambassador for the Council by being professional, courteous and helpful at all times. To ensure health and safety standards, processes, housekeeping and security are adhered to through regular checking, including vehicle checks, equipment/machinery checks and site inspections. Drive vehicles and equipment as required for grounds maintenance and other Council operations. Carry out grass cutting and strimming as and where instructed according to the grass schedules and the standards required, including litter picking and clearing of paths. Undertake maintenance of sports and fine turf facilities including bowling greens and cricket squares and outfields. Carry out hedge cutting at various locations across within the borough to the specified standards as instructed by the Team Leaders. Carry out seasonal maintenance of flower and shrub beds, gardens of remembrance and other cemetery work according to our schedule. Carry out digging, hoeing, weeding, bedding and planting/replanting at various locations across the borough as instructed.
