Collectively the SVR's mission is to: "To enthuse and inspire an affection and understanding in our visitors and staff for the Severn Valley Railway and the bygone era of steam locomotion and heritage diesels through the operation and interpretation of the Railway infrastructure, locomotives, historic carriages and wagons". Reporting to the General Manager, this exciting new Senior Management Role has been created to oversee, develop and grow the entire food and beverage offering for the Railway. Having 2 CAMRA award winning public houses, 5 varying catering outlets and On Train Dining experiences across our stunning 16-mile heritage railway there is so much scope and variety in this role. You will have direct line management responsibility for; Catering Manager Bar Managers On Train Bar and Catering Managers Chef Brigade Contract is full time and permanent 40 hours, 5 days from 7. Covers weekends and unsociable hours as required. Duties & Responsibilities: Manage all catering outlets, bars and on train food and beverage services across the railway. Manage the kitchen operations across the railway. Manage all catering operations including special events and corporate events in addition to attraction operating days. Set annual budgets, sales and gross profit targets for all teams, monitor and report on them monthly. Manage the purchasing of all food and beverages across the business. Ensure best value is always achieved. Set up stock management systems and procedures to ensure tight controls are in place and adhered to. Ensure cash handling procedures and policies are fit for purpose and communicated to all staff. Work closely with the Head of Visitor Experience to create attractive high-quality food and drinks experiences and packages to be presold to our visitors. Work with the marketing team to ensure visitor satisfaction is measured and reported to the teams. Manage the merchandising or products in outlets and work with the marketing team to create collateral that is in keeping with the SVR brand values. Create exciting, unique and high quality offers across the railway maintaining the personality of each of the stations and locations and aligning with visitor demand. Communicate effectively with all teams on a regular basis. Appraise your teams regularly identify training and development requirements. Advise the company on compliance with all statutory law regarding food and beverage preparation, service and retailing. Be an active member of the Senior Management Team for the Railway and contribute to the strategic planning for the business. Be a Duty Manager when events or services are running covering weekends and unsociable hours. TOIL is given. Any other applicable duties as required.
