Job Description

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is an executive-level role, having responsibility for the commercial strategy and commercial development, directly overseeing marketing, sales and commercial management in order to drive the business growth and increase the companies market share. As an executive position, the CCO will report directly to the Managing Director as a key role within the senior management team to ensure the integrated commercial success of the business, combining strong leadership and business development skills.

The CCO will take ownership of the commercial function, customers and 3rd party supplier management and be the interface for the product and service offering ensuring all functions within the company are aligned to meet its strategic and commercial objectives. The CCO will be closely associated to the overall company strategic function, in drafting, implementing and evaluating cross-functional decisions that will enable the business to achieve its long-term objectives.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic leadership and direction to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Alignment with the strategic direction of the companies vision taking ownership of key actions by implementing and evaluating business objectives.
  • Primary owner of revenue targets with ownership on short term and long-term commercial goals to ensure continued revenue results and growth.
  • Identify key decision makers and strategic partnerships within the customer and supplier base.
  • Enhance and develop strategic sales plans that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure revenue results are achieved with optimal departmental P&L management, working as a key influencer of effective cost management both within the Commercial function and across the business.
  • Explore and analyse market trends and identify new opportunities.
  • Structure and lead the commercial function in order to capitalise on commercial opportunities
  • Implement and manage existing systems and processes to support the success of the commercial team to ensure maximum output and increased time to market around commercial activities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to develop and implement operational and communication plans around new product launches, service changes or ad-hoc projects as and when required.
  • Assess the commercial business risks and challenges

Key Skills:

The individual will need to be both strategic and hands-on with a clear objective on growth with the ability to implement strategy, processes and successfully manage a team to support the goals of the business, in addition to ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
