The strategy team is responsible for shaping the long-term strategy and execution to drive business growth. We help answer questions such as: Which market segment should we invest in? Where should we focus our innovation efforts? How can we build on our unique capabilities to deliver value to customers? Which M&A opportunities should we pursue? The Role The Senior Strategy Manager role is a visible and influential role, which will work directly with Elsevier's senior leaders across the three segments. You would work on strategy planning across the company and drive strategy projects addressing pertinent strategic questions. In this role, you will report to the EVP Strategy and work closely with the Strategy Leadership team. In the first 6-9 months in the role, you will fill in for one of the strategy directors in the team, who will be on maternity leave. This will be a wonderful opportunity to engage directly with one of our segments and understand how strategic decisions are made. After this initial period, you will continue working across strategic areas, engaging with different business segments as needed. Responsibilities Strategic and Financial planning: Support strategic planning for Elsevier's portfolio of businesses. Work closely with finance and strategy leaders to articulate our ambitions and growth priorities. Track progress on objectives and metrics vs plan. Strategy communication: Articulate Elsevier's strategy narrative, and communicate the strategic direction and priorities to multiple stakeholder groups including employees, leadership teams, and supervisory board. Strategic projects: Work closely with business leaders to address strategic questions such as new business opportunities, new market/segment entry, portfolio prioritization/ restructuring and M&A. Independently lead the scoping and execution of projects, including data analysis, customer insights, synthesis of findings and making clear recommendations. Market and Competitive insights: Undertake analysis / modelling work to drive insight into market trends and competitive positioning. Ensure Elsevier's plans and performance are aligned with market trends and benchmarks. Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in an analytical/commercial/strategic role, of which at least 3 years in strategy consulting or in a corporate strategy role MBA preferred Background working in the information solutions sector or in data and analytics environment a plus, or in the research or academic segment.
