Posted on 04/03/2024 The Role Easter Ross Vets, Invergordon are looking for a small animal only vet surgeon to join their team, caseloads ranging from ultrasounds, x rays, blood workups etc to even some exotic work with reptiles, amphibians and snakes should this be an interest to you. We are really supportive of vets wishing to obtain certificates and we offer full funding for this; we can also support a specialism within areas of surgery and/or medicine. Covering 3 branches with Invergordon being the main hub & Tain & Alness. Ideally working up to 40 hours per week across 4/4.5 days between Monday-Friday with no OOH & 1:4 Saturday mornings (included within your 40 hour week), however we can be flexile and consider part time applications and job share as we understand everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we would like to enable you to strike the right balance on your work life. Salary Up to £75,000 negotiable D.O.E. Relocation allowance of up to £5,000 Welcome bonus up to £5,000 About Us Easter Ross Vets is situated just north of Inverness and boasts a rich pictish history within a beautiful highland setting out with the central belt, with great access to outdoor activities including hillwalking, water sports, Dunrobin Castle and dolphin watching to name a few. It is a great community and countryside only 1 hour away from Inverness Airport and 25 mins from City of Inverness. We have three branches Invergordon, Alness & Tain with Invergordon being our main hub. Our team is made up of 5 Vets, 5 Nurses, 2 SVN's & 1 VCA. Many of our team have their own lines of interest whether it be species or medicine/surgery related. The team look out for one another and aim to be available all the time when possible to assist. We support local agricultural shows and dog shows and take time out to attend these events. Applicant Requirements Ideally would suit an experienced vet surgeon but we can also consider new graduates for this role as full support will be given. Must be RCVS registered. The recruitment is both for replacement and expansion of the department to support specialist areas (particularly ERCP, hepatology and nutrition) and the introduction of a formal out of hours networked gastrointestinal bleed service. They will join a team of two consultant gastroenterologists, 1 StR, 1 Clinical Fellow, 2 IMT or equivalent, 1 FY2 and 2 FY1. The department of medicine provides ward based care, the gastroenterology firm based on ward 9 which was refurbished as part of the hospital redevelopment programme. Main duties of the job There is a nutrition support team, for which one of the successfully appointed candidates will be expected to provide clinical leadership. The team comprises of two nutrition nurses, dietician, and pharmacist. There is a weekly MDT and ward round which is worked flexibly as one session. Inflammatory bowel disease patients are supported by the department of gastroenterology with an IBD nurse / endoscopy nurse (awaiting funding for a second nurse). The post holder will share inpatient and outpatient general gastroenterology workload. Currently there is no formal on site out of hours endoscopy service, but the Health Board is developing a service which the post holders will be expected to participate in subject to further negotiation once the framework of this service is established. It is agreed that the post holders will not participate in the general medical on call, although this is available should the candidate wish to do so. The department would provide an in reach service to optimise patient management and discharge from the acute medical unit. This will be a weekday service, extending to a weekend service on the introduction of a formal out of hours GI bleed rota. Working for our organisation The post holders will be expected to contribute to regular endoscopy sessions in the dedicated endoscopy unit based at Glan Clwyd. The unit has three endoscopy rooms (two operational until further refurbishment of the recovery area) with endoscopy provided by dedicated endoscopy staff providing upper and lower GI endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic service, with ERCP in the department of radiology. The unit provides the EUS service for North Wales and is a bowel cancer screening accredited unit. These posts will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital where 3.5 consultant gastroenterologists currently provide the service with a potential need to provide support to other sites those subspecialised in ERCP.
