My Corby based client is recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager on a permanent basis to work in their Operations Department to manage and ensure the company machinery is kept in good working order by scheduling timely maintenance, both regular and ad-hoc, via management of the various engineering resources available. The role reports in to the Head of Manufacturing, and is responsible for 1 Engineering Supervisor and 5 Engineers. Key responsibilities: Design, implement maintain and develop as necessary Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) schedules that operate and are targeted to achieve the highest standard of engineering at all times. These schedules to take account of Production run plans and cleaning carried out by hygiene operatives. Work with,and educate, Production teams and management where necessary with an overall aim of reducing machine down time. Work in partnership with the Production & Technical Managers to address any improvement opportunities identified during technical audits/monitoring. Lead and performance manage designated team of engineers ensuring that performance reviews and relevant training/development activities are undertaken in a professional and timely manner. Develop and maintain accurate records detailing information such as machine downtimes/reasons and maintenance schedules. In conjunction with the facilities manager agree and control projects from start to finish including sourcing equipment controlling contractor enforcing CDM rules and updating health and safety file as the projects progress Ensure sufficient stock levels are available to complete maintenance as identified by plan. Organise team of engineers to meet TPM using optimum staff levels and ensuring time is spent effectively. Ensure all machines are maintained to the highest possible standards. Monitor and reduce machine down time on an ongoing basis using engineering schedule outputs as way of identification of improvement areas. Liaise with the Production Team Managers and advice on machine utilisation improvement opportunities. Ensure team are working in accordance with Health and Safety and HACCP requirements. Complete HACCP flow charts for areas of responsibility. Use IFS as a vehicle for purchase ordering. Be an active contributing member of the company Health and safety team. Undertake other duties and tasks that from time to time may be allocated to the jobholder that are appropriate to the grade of the job Comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection etc, and all those contained within the issued Employee Handbook. As a manager you are responsible for effectively implementing communicating and maintaining a food safety culture that supports the realisation of safe product as outlined within the FSSC22000 You must ensure all activities relating to food safety management system are adequately resourced and that all personnel carrying out activities that have an impact on food safety are adequately trained and competent You must also ensure conformance to the company's food safety policy at all times champion good manufacturing practices and behaviour's and ensure all designated food safety objectives are realised Compile and maintain all risk assessment connected to the role Promote and demonstrate the company's core values and behaviours You will need to have had previous experience if working within a food manufacturing engineering environment, a can-do attitude and a wide variety of experience with packing, mixing, flow wrapping and extrusion machinery, and the successful candidate will possess the following education/qualifications/training:- HNC in Electrical and Mechanical engineering or similar Vocational qualification in people management IOSH qualification or similar Food Hygiene Level 3 qualification NEBOSH qualification is desirable A Fork lift truck driver qualification is desirable Scissor lift and Boom trained You will also have the following abilities/skills/knowledge: Intermediate IT skills in Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook; CAD skills; Planning and scheduling skills; High level ability to work in a structured and methodical manner to ensure that schedules are followed and problems solved; Strong Leadership with the ability to build strong working relationships; Ability to plan and organise activities by prioritisation and effective management of time; Full working knowledge of dealing with performance management issues Confident communicator able to deal with team working issues in timely positive fashion; Full working knowledge of health & safety requirements i.e. contractor issues, H&S regulations relating to machinery and buildings - Factory Act etc The company are offering a competitive base salary with a good benefits package, hours are Mon-Fri 08:00-16:30.
